FAQ

Is Rhodes good in Monster Hunter Outlanders?
Guides disagree. Game8 ranks him S for rerolling, GameWith B, and Gamerch gives him B overall. He is the only Hammer adventurer and deals Ice damage.
How do you get Rhodes?
Rhodes is the featured character on the rotating banner from October 29 to November 27, 2026, which guarantees him within 120 pulls. Gamerch also lists him in the standard pool.

Who is Rhodes in Monster Hunter Outlanders?

Rhodes is the game’s only Hammer adventurer, and an inventor whose weapon runs on steam. His charged attacks are slow but cover a wide area, and he moves quickly while charging.

How does Rhodes’s kit work?

Rhodes runs on two meters, and you fill one by spending the other:

  1. Normal attacks build Steam energy. The basic combo is up to three hits, and each hit adds Steam.
  2. Skill 1 charges the hammer. The charge rises through three levels over time, and you can walk while charging. Hold the button, or tap it again, to switch to a rolling charge: you move faster and spend stamina.
  3. Rolling charge hits turn Steam into Core energy. At the third level, the roll becomes a stamina-fed spin that ends in a slam.
  4. Skill 2 is a steam stance with a counter. It briefly dodges monster attacks; a successful dodge triggers an automatic uppercut and lets you jump straight to a level-three charge.
  5. Skill 3 needs a full Core bar. Rhodes leaps and slams down from the air, spending all his Core energy.

His ultimate assembles two parts into a giant hammer for one heavy slam. His co-op attack scoops up his Palico and throws it at the monster.

What passives does Rhodes have?

Trait Effect reported by Gamerch
Unique trait Rolling charge attacks deal +20% Ice damage
Survival trait When a party member mines ore, 25% chance of one extra piece (does not stack with the same effect)
Ice resonance With another Ice-specialized adventurer in the party, Ice damage breaks parts 35% more efficiently

How do guides rate Rhodes?

Source Rating Ranking type
Game8 Japan S Reroll
GameWith Japan B Reroll
Dengeki Online A Reroll priority
Gamerch A / B Reroll / overall

Rhodes has the widest spread of any adventurer we compared. The ratings agree on what he offers: a rare weapon, Ice damage and wide hits. They disagree on whether his slow swings are worth it. If you like the Hammer or need an Ice attacker, he is a reasonable target; if you only want the strongest pick, Midori is ranked above him everywhere. See the reroll comparison for the full table.

How do you get Rhodes?

GameWith’s English banner list and Gamerch both show Rhodes as the featured character on the current rotating banner, from October 29 to November 27, 2026. Rotating banners use the same pity as featured ones: an SSR within 90 pulls and the featured character by 120, once per banner. Work out your own count with the pity calculator.

Gamerch’s early-game guide also says Rhodes can come from the standard banner, so a later standard pull or the 300-pull selection is another route.

Which other Adventurers use the Hammer?

None. Rhodes is the only Hammer user on the official roster. Compare the other weapons in the adventurer explorer.

Skill details checked November 4, 2026 against Gamerch (updated November 4) and GameWith’s banner list. Skill names come from the Japanese client and are described rather than translated. GameNavi has not tested his damage.
