How do you enter a cheat?
- Press OPTIONS (PlayStation) or Menu (Xbox) to pause. On PC, press Esc.
- Open Settings.
- Press Triangle / Y to open the cheats list.
- Press Triangle / Y again and type the phrase.
Type the phrase exactly as listed below, including commas, full stops, exclamation marks and the question mark. Copying the capital letters as written avoids any case problems. Once you have entered a cheat it stays in the list, so next time you only switch it on or off.
Playing in Japanese, Korean or Chinese? The phrases are the same English sentences in every language version. Switch your keyboard to English input before typing.
Which cheats work from the start?
These 29 cheats have no unlock requirement. You can type them in Chapter 1.

Which cheats need a newspaper?
Eight cheats only work while you carry a specific newspaper. Newspapers are sold by vendors in towns. Each one becomes available after the mission below. If you can’t find it, check another newspaper town:
- Blackwater Ledger: Blackwater and Strawberry
- New Hanover Gazette: Valentine and Annesburg
- Saint Denis Times: Saint Denis and Rhodes

Anything else to know?
- The weapon cheats do not give weapons that were added later, such as the Evans repeater, LeMat revolver, M1899 pistol and High Roller revolver.
- “Seek all the bounty of this place” and the Dead Eye cheats do not skip the story. Dead Eye levels still unlock normally as you play. See the beginner guide for when each level arrives.

- Cheats don’t help much with legendary animals. Every legendary pelt is perfect in story mode, whatever weapon you use.
