What is Monster Hunter Outlanders?

Monster Hunter Outlanders is a mobile Monster Hunter game licensed by Capcom and developed by TiMi Studio Group, published by Level Infinite. It keeps the series loop — track a large monster, fight it, carve materials, craft better gear — and adds two things the console games don’t have: named Adventurers you recruit, and Radiant species, monsters warped by a mineral called Radiantite on the island of Aesoland.

The flagship monster is Ruger Aidal, the game’s first original Elder Dragon.

What should you do before launch day?

Pre-register on the App Store, Google Play or the official site. The pre-registration milestones grant these rewards to every player after launch:

Milestone Reward
2M social followers Standard Contract ×5
5M pre-registrations Standard Contract ×5, Zenny ×5,000
10M pre-registrations Adventurer Raya (SR)
15M pre-registrations Standard Contract ×5, Growth Concentrate ×20
20M pre-registrations Standard Contract ×5, Aqua Dew ×20

That is 20 Standard Contracts plus Raya if every tier is reached. Which tiers have been reached is not confirmed yet. There are no redeem codes so far — see the codes page.

How do Adventurers and classes work?

Your own character is free and can switch weapon type and role. On top of that you recruit named Adventurers, each locked to one weapon and one of three classes: Assault, Disruptor and Support. Nine Adventurers are on the official site; the full list is in the Adventurer tier list.

Buddies have classes too: the Palico is Assault, the Rutaco is Disruptor and the Trillan is Support.

Which weapons are in the game?

Seven weapon types at launch: Great Sword, Long Sword, Dual Blades, Hammer, Lance, Heavy Bowgun and Bow. More weapons arrive in later updates. Each one is broken down in the weapons guide.

What are Classic and Starter controls?

The game has two control schemes. Classic keeps the full move set on skill buttons. Starter mode simplifies inputs for players new to Monster Hunter. Whether you can switch between them mid-game will be confirmed at launch.

What to do on day one

  1. Claim the pre-registration rewards from the in-game mail (confirm at launch).
  2. Finish the tutorial hunts before spending Standard Contracts.
  3. Pick a first weapon you enjoy, not one from a ranking — rankings will change once the live game is tested.
  4. Try one co-op hunt: up to four players can hunt together.
