FAQ

What is the best horse in Red Dead Redemption 2?
The Rose Grey Bay Arabian has the highest stats of the purchasable horses (7 health, 7 stamina, 6 speed, 6 acceleration). It costs $1,250 at the Blackwater stable in the Epilogue.
Where is the White Arabian in RDR2?
In the snow northwest of Lake Isabella in Ambarino. It is wild, so you tame it for free instead of buying it.

The Black Arabian ($1,050) and Gold Turkoman ($950) at the Saint Denis stable, from Chapter 4. The Nokota at the same stable is a cheaper $450 option.
How many bonding levels do horses have?

  • Most health: Turkoman, with 7 health.
  • Most speed: Missouri Fox Trotter, with 7 speed and better health and stamina than the Nokota.

How do you get the White Arabian?

On the map: View on map · Wild horses and stables on the map

Ride to Lake Isabella in northern Ambarino and search the snowy area northwest of the lake. The White Arabian is a wild mare. Get close slowly and use your lasso, or jump on, then keep your balance until it is tamed. You can tame wild horses from Chapter 2.

What do the handling types mean?

Every horse has one of four handling types: Heavy, Standard, Race and Elite. Handling is listed separately from the four stats, so compare it alongside them. All three Arabians in the table above are Elite.

How does horse bonding work?

Bonding goes up to level 4. Riding, feeding, brushing, calming and patting your horse all raise it. Higher bonding:

  • adds +1 health and +1 stamina, and raises courage at levels 2 to 4,
  • makes the horse less skittish,
  • extends whistle range and response,
  • unlocks moves such as drifting, skid stops, rearing and the piaffe,
  • gives you longer to revive your horse after it falls, from 12 minutes at level 1 up to 60 minutes at level 4,
  • raises the price you get if you sell it.

A dirty horse drains its cores 25% faster, so brush it now and then. The “My kingdom is a horse” cheat raises bonding with all your horses instantly. See the cheats list, and remember cheats block saving.
