Ruger Aidal: Monster Hunter Outlanders Flagship Elder Dragon

What is Ruger Aidal?

Ruger Aidal is the flagship monster of Monster Hunter Outlanders and the first Elder Dragon designed specifically for the game. It was unveiled at gamescom in August 2026, at the same show where store pre-registration opened.

The official descriptions are short but consistent:

• It is wrapped in a dazzling radiance and “descends like a blazing sun” (official store listing).
• Its wings shine brilliantly like arrows of light, and it resembles a sun suspended in the sky (gamescom 2026 press release).

How is Ruger Aidal connected to the Radiant species?

Both are new to Aesoland. The store listing presents Ruger Aidal and the Radiant species together as the game’s exclusive monsters, but it does not state how they are related. We won’t guess at the story; this section will be updated once the game is out.

Which other Elder Dragons are confirmed?

Two series Elder Dragons have been shown:

• Nergigante — featured in the “Nergigante Approaches” event during the third closed beta.
• Kushala Daora — named in publisher announcements around gamescom 2026.

Whether both are in the game at launch has not been confirmed.

How should you prepare for Ruger Aidal?

Until the hunt is playable, the best preparation is general: learn your weapon in the weapons guide, and practise Perfect Evades and the squad Co-Op Skill described in combat basics. The Radiant monsters below are the strongest confirmed hunts so far:

Radiant Rathalos

Radiant Rathian

Radiant Anjanath

Radiant Diablos
