Phantom Blade Zero New Game+: what to finish before restarting

Should you start New Game+ immediately?

Only after checking what you still want from the current run. Post-game collection and a fresh playthrough solve different problems: staying in the current world may let you collect a remaining item, but it does not reopen a quest whose story window has closed. A new run resets the story; it is not a way to preserve every unfinished task.

Before committing, review the ending conditions and missable checklist. If an ending requirement was missed, mark where the next route must change. Repeating the same choices with stronger equipment will not fix a missed quest trigger.

Where do you start the next run?

After completing the game and watching the credits, travel from a Bell to Puppet Cell, Mountain of Imprisonment, then speak to Inanis. Read the new-run confirmation before accepting. Do not confuse this with returning to an earlier Bell to continue exploring the completed run.

The cover is an official story image of Soul; it does not depict this menu or mark the NPC’s location.

What carries over, and what resets?

Category Planning rule What to check before accepting
Weapons, accessories and trained skills These form the general carryover core Keep a record of the setup you want to reuse
Collected archives Collection is retained Separate missing records from unfinished quests
Story and side-quest progress Reset for the new playthrough Write down missed branches and their deadlines
Map progression and story key items Reset Plan to reopen routes instead of assuming every door stays usable
Available days Reset Read the selected mode’s rules
Exploration-capable Phantom Edges Requires an exception check Do not build a route around having every traversal function from the start

The exploration row matters. General carryover descriptions include Phantom Edges, while more detailed accounts describe exploration tools being taken back. That distinction is not fully resolved here. Until your new-run confirmation and inventory settle it, use the original acquisition checkpoints in the traversal guide as your fallback plan.

What should you finish before leaving this playthrough?

  1. Check the current ending route. If you still have access to an unfinished requirement, resolve it before advancing further. If its window is already closed, record it for the next run.
  2. Review late-region pickups. The Mirage Estate route highlights checks around the masks, fifth pillar and Tiger Cannon encounter.
  3. Record your build. Note the weapon, Phantom Edge, accessory and abilities that worked together; a screenshot of each menu is easier to compare than a remembered attack number.
  4. Reclaim resources only with a reason. If changing a weapon, read the refund conditions in early upgrades. Starting again is not a reason to dismantle a setup you still use.
  5. Read the final confirmation. Check difficulty, days and carryover wording before accepting the new run.

This checklist is an editorial planning order, not a requirement to collect every item before New Game+.

Is the 66 Days challenge the same as ordinary New Game+?

Treat the new playthrough and its selected difficulty as separate choices. The 66 Days option introduces a limited-life challenge; it should not be assumed to describe every New Game+ run. Read its failure conditions before selecting it. This page does not promise recovery from that mode’s failure state.
